TWO FERRARI CLASSES ADDED FOR CONCOURS JUDGING
AT THE RITZ-CARLTON EVENT
Amelia Island, FL (October 16, 1996) - With the designation of Ferrari as the feature marque, two special Ferrari classes have been added to the 14 other automotive classes that already exist for trophy judging at The Ritz- Carlton Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance here March 8, 1997, co- chairman, Bill Warner announced.
"After conversations with Peter Brock, our chief judge, and several other members of the judges' committee, including our presenting sponsor, Mercedes-Benz, we decided that the wealth of superb Ferraris invited deserve special recognition," Warner said. "They will be divided into sports and racing classes."
The classes express the wide variety in the charity exhibition which again will have a separate motorcycle category, one of the most popular groups in the inaugural event. Trophies will be awarded in the following classes:
Antique Cars to 1924; American 1925-1948; American Classic and Custom Coachwork; Limited Production Post War American Cars to 1962; American Muscle Car 1959-1969; Pre-War Race Cars; Race Cars Post-War to 1960; Race Cars 1961-1972; European Classics 1925-1948; European Sports Cars Post-War to 1960; European Sports Cars 1961-1971; European Custom Coachwork, Ferrari; Mercedes-Benz and motorcycle.
All vehicles entered must be able to be driven to be eligible for a trophy, according to Warner. Other speciality trophies also will be awarded.
The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is a charity event for Hospice Northeast, Inc., a local organization serving the needs of terminally ill children and adults.
